Step-by-step setup guide + copy-paste prompt

Honest note: rule-based flows from purchase data, not AI. The brand is a national seller with 20+ flows, so start with two flows.

Prerequisites

  • A Shopify store connected to Klaviyo (the shop's own purchase data is the engine).
  • A decision on your rewards (the brand used VIP status and free shipping), and the margin to afford them.

Step-by-step setup

Step 1. Connect Shopify to Klaviyo and let past orders sync, so each profile has an order count.

Step 2. Flow 1: second order. In Klaviyo create a flow triggered by Placed Order. Add a conditional split using What someone has done → Placed Order → equals 2 over all time. On the "yes" branch, email: "You've earned VIP status on your next order."

Step 3. Flow 2: third order. Same trigger with equals 3: "Your next order ships free."

Step 4. Scale the incentive. The brand grew incentives with each customer's order total for the year. Start with a flat reward and add tiers later.

Step 5. Review and turn on. Preview, send a test to yourself, set the flow to Live. Check the flow's revenue and placed-order rate after 30 days.

Step 6. Add welcome and abandoned-cart flows first if you don't have them. The brand got value there in its first year.
