Step-by-step setup guide
Benefit: Every paid QuickBooks invoice automatically starts a 4-step review request (SMS → email → SMS → email). Nobody has to remember to ask.
Honest note: This is a rule-based sequence, not AI. The numbers (151 → 1,042 reviews at 4.9★) come from NiceJob's case study about Miller's Tree Service.
Prerequisites
- QuickBooks Online with customer emails and mobile numbers filled in.
- A NiceJob account with your Google Business Profile connected.
- Time: about 30 minutes.
Step-by-step setup
Step 1. Connect QuickBooks. Log in to NiceJob and go to app.nicejob.com/settings/product/apps. Click Connect next to QuickBooks and approve the login. Contacts sync automatically, and invites go out when an invoice is created or a payment is made.
Step 2. Open the review campaign. Go to Campaigns, open Get Reviews, and click Edit Campaign.
Step 3. Build the 4 steps Miller's used. Click a message card to edit it. Use Add Step to add the rest:
- Step 1: SMS on day 0
- Step 2: email at +2 days
- Step 3: SMS at +5 days
- Step 4: email at +5 days
Step 4. Personalize. Use merge tags for the first name and the crew or job type. Keep each SMS under 2 lines.
Step 5. Go live. Click Save, then Set Live. Customers drop out of the sequence automatically once they leave a review.
Step 6. Check after 30 days. See which step brings in reviews. For Miller's, the first SMS did the most (342 reviews), but the reminders brought in about half of all reviews.
Copy-paste prompt (draft the 4 messages in ChatGPT or Claude)
Write a 4-step review request for {{business}}, a {{trade}} company.
Step 1 SMS (day 0), Step 2 email (+2 days), Step 3 SMS (+5 days), Step 4 email (+5 days, last one).
Friendly, short, no pressure, one link: {{review_link}}. Use {{first_name}} as a merge tag. SMS under 160 characters.Sources
