Online booking survey results

Appointment businesses · 75% report less admin time (self-reported)

CostAcuity SchedulingVendor survey of about 500 of its own customers: 75% report fewer no-shows and 70% report revenue growth. Self-reported, so treat it as a signal, not proof. This is a recipe built from Acuity's own help pages, not one business's story. Acuity has a free plan with limits. Rule-based automation, not AI.

Step-by-step setup guide + copy-paste prompt

Needs a tech helper: this one can't be set up reliably without technical help. The notes below explain why, plus the simplest safe alternative.

Honest note: the headline numbers come from a survey run by the vendor of its own customers, with no baseline. This guide is the setup Acuity's help centre describes for cutting no-shows, not a verified business result. It's rule-based automation, with no AI.

Prerequisites

  • An Acuity Scheduling account with your appointment types set up.
  • A Stripe, Square or PayPal account if you want to take payment at booking.

Step-by-step setup

Step 1. Write a cancellation policy. Decide the notice period and refund rules in plain words. Then set the scheduling limit for how close to an appointment a client can cancel; you can set it for everything or per calendar.

Step 2. Make clients agree to it. Create an intake form with your policy text and a checkbox question marked required. Clients see it after they choose a time and before they finish booking.

Step 3. Take payment when they book. Connect a payment processor in Acuity, then require payment, or at least a card on file, for the appointment type. Charging at booking is the strongest nudge to show up.

Step 4. Set the reminder chain. Acuity sends a confirmation plus up to three email reminders and one text reminder. Set the timing in the client email and client text message settings, and put your cancellation policy into the reminder template. Menu names may differ slightly. Clients must opt in to texts.

Step 5. Track it. Count no-shows per month before and after, for the same appointment types.
