Needs a tech helper: this one can't be set up reliably without technical help. The notes below explain why, plus the simplest safe alternative.
Honest note: rule-based settings, not AI. The numbers are vendor-reported, and the studio is premium, so a smaller salon might see less. The cancellation-fee steps below are from Boulevard's own help centre.
Prerequisites
- A Boulevard account with online self-booking switched on.
Step-by-step setup
Step 1. Set the cancellation deadline. Click the gear icon for Manage Business → Client Experience tab → scroll to Cancellation Deadline → enter the hours before an appointment when a fee applies.
Step 2. Set the fee. Same tab → Cancellation Fee → choose a percentage or a dollar amount. The fee can never exceed the appointment price. Boulevard's default policy allows up to 100% if cancelled under 24 hours out.
Step 3. Publish your own policy (optional). Same tab → Custom Cancellation Policy → paste the URL of a page you host. It replaces the standard policy in the booking window and confirmation emails.
Step 4. Turn on client reminders. Open client notifications and enable appointment reminders, including same-day texts, with manage-appointment and policy links. Menu names may differ slightly.
Step 5. Charge consistently. When staff cancel in Boulevard, choose the late-cancel or no-show reason so the fee is applied the same way each time.
Step 6. Measure. Track late cancellations and booked appointments monthly.
