Prerequisites
- Your appointments in Google Calendar, and a Google account.
- Each client's mobile number (and their consent to texts).
- An Etisia account (paid; check current price on their site).
Step-by-step setup
Step 1. Connect your calendar. Sign up at Etisia, sign in with Google and pick the calendar that holds your appointments. Setup takes under a minute, and you can connect more than one calendar with separate settings.
Step 2. Choose timing. Set reminders for 24 hours and 2 hours before each appointment (Etisia allows up to three windows).
Step 3. Pick the text. Choose a template in your language and edit it to match your tone, for example: "Hi {{name}}, a reminder of your appointment at {{salon}} tomorrow at {{time}}. Need to cancel? Tap {{link}}."
Step 4. Turn on the cancellation link. An easy cancel link means the slot can be re-sold. The salon found this reduces last-minute no-shows rather than increasing cancellations.
Step 5. Add each client's number. Put the phone number in the event title or description (or use a saved contact) and save the event. Events then show "SMS ready" and later "SMS sent".
Step 6. Test, then go live. Send a test SMS to your own phone first. Track no-shows for 30 days against your old rate.
